Why do you have people "double opt-in" (sign-up twice, follow up by phone, etc.)?
The simple answer is: we want to have GREAT events! Nothing is more
discouraging than when you plan the event, book the venue, provide the
refreshments, load-in & set-up equipment and NO ONE SHOWS! Or, very
few. Some events work fine with a couple people, but most really need
several to have the "electric" dynamic everyone craves. We try to set
the minimum people required as low as possible because we want to have
the events, but if those few who committed don't show then a lot of
energy put in goes to waste and discourages future efforts. To avoid
this we do our best to make sure those who have committed to coming
will ACTUALLY BE THERE. Crazy, huh?
